What you will do
This role combines two positions: Test Coordinator (30%) and Test Analyst (70%).
As Test Coordinator, you will be responsible for organising and monitoring test activities to deliver high-quality software that meets business requirements and expectations. You will work within an agile development team and align test plans with testers, developers, analysts and the business.
Your responsibilities include:
- Defining an effective test approach for different developments based on your insight into the technical environment and functional needs
- Establishing acceptance criteria, developing test cases and maintaining regression test scenarios
- Coordinating with stakeholders outside the agile team regarding end-to-end test activities and business acceptance tests
- Taking initiative to automate repetitive tests
- Reporting transparently on the progress of test activities and the quality of developments
- Providing daily guidance to one or two other testers within the team
As Test Analyst, you will be responsible for setting up and executing tests to deliver quality software.
Your tasks include:
- Developing a thorough understanding of the technical environment and functional requirements
- Defining the test strategy for different developed applications based on analyses
- Elaborating test scenarios and test cases for internal ICT tests and end-to-end tests with users
- Preparing data and executing functional and non-functional tests
- Coordinating and supporting acceptance tests and guiding users in this process
- Creating regression tests to efficiently and quickly detect software problems
- Having a good understanding of software test automation and automating tests yourself, or working with other team members to set this up
- Documenting automated test procedures (principles, tools and methods)
- Analysing, documenting and efficiently reporting test results to business analysts and developers
- Following up on corrections with the parties involved
What we are looking for
Experience:
- Five years of experience as a test analyst
- Three years of experience as a test coordinator
Technical skills:
- Knowledge of test methodologies and standards such as ISTQB or TMap
- Experience working in an agile/scrum environment
- Experience working in Azure DevOps
- Experience with API testing (SOAP and REST API) and non-functional testing (e.g. performance tests)
- Proficiency in complex queries in SQL, XML and JSON
- Experience with tools such as SoapUI/ReadyAPI/Postman or similar

The setting
This is a freelance assignment for three months, starting on 1 October 2026 and running until 24 December 2026.
You will join a multidisciplinary scrum development team of twelve people, including a scrum master, business analysts, developers, product owner, DevOps engineers, test analyst and test coordinator. The team is bilingual, with half Dutch-speaking and half French-speaking members.
The work mode is hybrid, with two days per week on site in Brussels. The working schedule is five days per week at an average of eight hours per day.
The client is a Belgian public-sector organisation with a dynamic IT department where agile methodologies (scrum) are used.
