What you will do
You will design, manage and optimise a critical InterSystems IRIS database environment within a public-sector organisation undergoing digital transformation. Your work supports operational processes, data-driven services and the modernisation of legacy systems.
Your responsibilities include:

- Data modelling and integration: designing and managing globals and SQL tables, configuring business services, processes and operations (BPL), including BPL debugging
- Performance and scalability optimisation: index analysis, query tuning, parallel SQL, ECP cache servers and shard clusters
- Designing, implementing, testing and documenting database solutions tailored to application needs
- Automating deployments using GitLab CI/CD pipelines and Ansible
- Supporting backend development in Python
- Where needed, implementing and configuring other DBMS systems
You will work in a multidisciplinary team with a mix of internal and external colleagues, contributing to stable, secure and reliable information systems.

- Expert-level knowledge of InterSystems IRIS (or Caché/Ensemble), particularly ObjectScript and the Python API for IRIS
- Confirmed experience with operational database management: journaling, mirroring, ECP, sharding and fail-over configurations
- Expert-level proficiency in Python, SQL and NoSQL
- Expert-level experience with Linux server management and script automation
- Expert-level experience designing databases for microservices or event-driven architectures
- Expert-level experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and Ansible deployments
- Accuracy and attention to detail, essential given the critical nature of the data
- Autonomy and initiative: you can work independently, propose solutions and adapt quickly
- Strong documentation skills: you document analyses, configurations, performance optimisations and technical decisions clearly and in a structured way
- Good written and verbal communication skills in Dutch, French and English
- Ability to manage priorities in a complex environment with multiple systems, projects and technical dependencies
- A client-focused, solution-oriented attitude: stress-resistant, creative, constructive and methodical
