What you will do
You will join a dynamic product division that uses agile and DevOps practices (Scrum, CI/CD) to deliver modern software solutions. Your work will focus on a data migration programme that aims to move data from legacy systems to a modern open architecture, making it more accessible to search applications, analytics solutions, artificial intelligence and intelligence-led policing tools.
Your responsibilities include:
- Developing web applications, REST APIs and data exchange services in PHP and JavaScript
- Carrying out technical analysis and designing solutions for data integration between applications
- Adapting and enriching strategic search and logging solutions with new features
- Integrating functionality related to data analysis, artificial intelligence and intelligence-led policing
- Participating in technical architecture definition
- Collaborating with development teams to ensure performant, secure and interoperable solutions
What we are looking for
Technical skills:
- Confirmed experience as a full-stack developer
- Strong PHP and JavaScript development skills
- Experience with REST APIs and web services
- Knowledge of software architecture principles and design patterns
- Familiarity with authentication mechanisms (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT-based tokens)
- Experience with containerisation
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL)
- Understanding of application security and security-by-design principles
- Experience with DevOps practices and GitLab
- Basic knowledge of automated testing

Languages:
- Native or fluent French or Dutch
- Passive knowledge of the other national language is required

The setting
This is an assignment starting in October 2026 and running until the end of December 2026, with the possibility of extension. You will work full-time (40 hours per week) in a multidisciplinary team that includes both internal staff and external consultants.
The role is hybrid: you will be expected to work on-site in Brussels at least twice a week, depending on tasks and in agreement with the team. Remote work from home or from your employer's premises in Belgium is permitted.
The team works with innovative technologies in an agile setting, with a focus on continuous improvement and modern development practices.
