What you will do
A Belgian public-sector organisation is working to raise its cybersecurity maturity through several initiatives focused on internal network infrastructure and data centre security. As an expert IT security specialist, you will play a key role in the operational management, maintenance and optimisation of the network and security infrastructure.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Manage and monitor the network and security architecture, with particular emphasis on F5 load balancing and Fortinet firewall solutions
- Ensure optimal availability and performance of business-critical systems and applications
- Contribute to the further development of the network architecture and the implementation of security policy
- Support projects and changes related to network improvement, segmentation and security reinforcement
- Advise on technical risks, security measures and structural improvements
You will work towards four key result areas: continuity (stable, reliable infrastructure that meets internal and external requirements), security (effective protection of network traffic and data against threats and unauthorised access), optimisation (proactive maintenance and improvement with attention to efficiency and future-proofing), and collaboration (effective coordination with IT colleagues, suppliers and project teams).
What we are looking for
- Confirmed experience as an IT Security Architect
- Confirmed expertise with F5 load balancing and F5 firewall solutions
- Confirmed expertise with Fortinet FortiGate firewalls and FortiAnalyzer
- Strong knowledge of network security, firewall management and VLAN configuration
- Experience with cybersecurity principles and SIEM solutions (Sentinel)
- Familiarity with Azure, Defender for Cloud
- Active knowledge of Dutch or French
- English is a nice to have
The setting
This assignment runs from January 2027 to December 2027, with a total of 1760 hours over the year. The work location is in Brussels, with a hybrid working arrangement. You will work within a public-sector environment that is actively investing in improving its cybersecurity posture through network segmentation and web application firewall projects.
