What you will do
You will join a digital transformation programme for a public healthcare organisation, working on applications that support professionals in their daily work with families and children. Your role will span both new development projects and the maintenance of existing applications.
Development projects include:
- A system for managing child records, consultations and appointments for children aged 0 to 6
- A digital social file system for expectant mothers, supporting healthcare professionals in their follow-up and social support
- A vaccination management platform that modernises data collection, enables cross-system vaccination cards and strengthens supply chain tracking
Maintenance work covers:
- An existing child health record system for children aged 0 to 6
- An appointment management and planning system that works both online and offline to ensure continuity for field professionals
- Ongoing maintenance and evolution of the vaccination platform
Depending on project phases and needs, you may work across several applications and functional domains, collaborating with functional analysts, testers, other developers and project stakeholders.
Your activities:
- Participate in technical design with functional analysts, the technical lead and team members
- Design application components respecting the defined architecture and technical standards
- Develop and evolve backend Java and frontend Angular modules and components
- Write unit tests and integration tests to the required quality standards
- Fix bugs and implement functional and technical improvements
- Participate in code refactoring to improve readability, maintainability and performance
- Take part in code reviews with other developers
- Participate in preparing and delivering deployments across different environments
- Validate deployment and delivery of solutions
- Contribute to reducing technical debt through refactoring, library and framework upgrades
- Collaborate daily with developers, functional analysts, testers and other project participants
- Participate in Scrum ceremonies
- Share difficulties, concerns and technical risks with the team leader
- Document developments when necessary and share useful knowledge within the team

Technical environment:
The stack includes Angular 21, Java 8 / JEE7, Java 21, Spring Boot, NgRx, DB2, MySQL and Flyway. Build tools are Apache Maven, Git/GitLab CI/CD and Nexus. You will work in an Agile/Scrum environment with a service-oriented architecture.
You should apply clean code principles and development best practices, respect methodological and technological standards, and meet commitments and deadlines defined within the team.
The setting
This is a freelance mission starting mid-November 2026 and running until the end of 2027. The work is hybrid, with a minimum of 50% presence required at the office in Brussels. All work is conducted in French.
